These early appointments are pretty generic. I get my blood pressure checked, weighed, and Labban comes in to listen to the heartbeat. Dr. Labban came in today and couldn't find the heartbeat on his handheld doppler. He searched for about 5 minutes and I was holding my breath the entire time. He looked at my face and said "Don't worry I'm not letting you leave here without hearing the heartbeat". He fired up the ultrasound and immediately saw the baby on the screen. The heartbeat was great, but the baby immediately jumped around and was waving his/her arms around. Dr. Labban laughed and said that the baby was saying "Don't worry, I'm still here". The baby was moving so much that Dr. Labban said that this early it was hard to track it down.
Everything else on the appointment went well. My blood pressure is doing great and I haven't gained any weight. I actually have lost a pound. Dr. Labban questioned and made sure I've been eating, and I ensured him that I had been eating well. The less weight I gain this pregnancy the better, but it needs to be maintained smartly. Since I had preeclampsia with Bradon the chance I could get it again is about 50%, but that percent increases the more weight I gain. So, I've been eating healthy and trying my best to watch what I eat. Though occasionally I cave into a cookie.
Dr. Labban also changed my due date today. He changed it to October 11, 2011. He felt the original date was off. So, I've back tracked a week, but everything is looking great so I'm not complaining.
