The Christmas Tree

We decided to go get our tree today, because the ground was drying up and it was over 50 degrees here. We had found a tree farm here in town and headed to get our tree. Sadly on arrival we found out that due to the drought they didn't have that many trees to choose from and had shipped in a lot of trees from Michigan. They said we could still go out to the farm and look around. Matt and I decided that our favorite part of getting a tree was picking it out and cutting it down so we went out to the farm determined to find a tree. After looking a long time and the kids were getting cranky we decided that we would just have to go pick out one of the trees that were shipped in.

We decided on a scotch pine, because we love the smell of the needles and they really are just beautiful trees. I guess now should be the time that I mention that it was 10 ft tall. I love Christmas and I love going overboard. Matt left the height decision up to me and I planned on taking advantage of our 11 ft ceilings.

They netted the tree and then helped Matt get it on top of the roof of our van then left. Which was kind of interesting, because usually they help you tie them down. They left Matt and I to tie the tree down to the top of the car. We somehow managed to get it tied down and made it all the way home without it falling off.

I know I will regret saying this later, but it really was easy getting the tree up the stairs and into the stand. I'm pretty sure it won't be as easy to get it out. After we got the tree stood up we cut one string on the netting and the entire tree practically popped out of the rest of the net. It really is a huge tree, but it's only here for a month so we can enjoy it.

We spent the rest of the night listening to Christmas music, decorating the tree, and watching the kids. It really is amazing looking at stuff through their eyes.

Happy Holidays -
Amanda
