What a week in this household!
Monday morning Matt woke up with a cold and not just any cold. *cue spooky music* The October Cold (That's what we have dubbed it) Every year since Matt started law school he has gotten this horrible cold in October. It seems to last for at least a week and makes him (and therefore everyone else) completely miserable. On top of being sick Matt had volunteered to judge Moot Court at the law school. This meant he would work all day and then leave from work to judge and not get home until after 10. Madison was devastated that Matt wasn't home to tuck her in so she woke up when he came home and he had to go tuck her in. I let him despite my better judgment. Looking back I'm pretty sure this simple act is what started the entire week of chaos.
Tuesday morning Madison woke up congested and just laid on the couch with her blanket most of the day. Anyone who knows our child knows that this is completely out of the norm. She was completely miserable and it didn't help that her brother was constantly harassing her. Tuesday night she barely slept and was up constantly calling for mom. It was a long night.
Wednesday morning Madison was still feeling awful and I was taking care of her when I heard it. A tiny sneeze from the smallest member of our little family. I didn't think much of it at the time, but then I heard several more. Poor Bradon was next in line for the October cold. I went into overdrive at that point. Sanitizing, washing bedding, taking vitamin C, and spraying Lysol. The last thing I needed was to get this cold, because there was at least one of us that needed to be able to take care of the rest.
Thursday morning Matt was starting to feel better. Madison was back to her cheery self and Bradon seemed to be acting better. But then I realized the tickle at the back of my throat and I knew it had happened. I had caught this dang cold too. By the end of the day I was completely miserable and it didn't help that Bradon was acting strange again too. He was up the entire night screaming and I was at a complete loss as to what to do.
Friday morning I called the doctor's office and got Bradon in. Come to find out the poor little guy has an ear infection and they placed him on antibiotics. I was doing a lot better and determined that I had somehow managed not to get the full cold. In the midst of all of this I had volunteered to make dessert for the tailgate party that we were supposed to go to on Saturday. Matt's job puts on a yearly tailgate and we had been invited. I didn't know if I was actually going to be able to make it, but did say that I would make cupcakes. I decided on red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing. (not only because they are delicious, but because it's the school's colors) Matt helped and we managed to make 70 cupcakes. They tasted delicious, but our poor kitchen looked as if a murder had been committed. I'm not for sure I will ever get all the red stains out.
Saturday morning Bradon was doing much better, and Grandma Raper said she would watch the kids. The kids stayed with her while Matt & I went to the tailgate. It was a lot of fun meeting everyone Matt works with and seeing how crazy & hilarious his boss can be.
That was our week. Today we just spent the day at home. We had planned on going to the zoo, but due to the illnesses this week we decided to wait for everyone to completely re-cooperate before going on that adventure.
Stay Well -
Amanda
