Day 2:
Blogging every day is going to be difficult. Not that we don’t have plenty to talk about,
but more about finding time to do it.
Today’s blog will be about Bradon.
The middle child and are only boy tends to get left in the
dust of his sisters. Not that he isn’t
getting attention – he just is at an awkward age right now. He’s too young for all the activities his
older sister is in and is too old to really enjoy the things Alana does. He is about blocks, legos, turtles, cars, and
toy story.
He is such a boy – climbing, rough housing, and getting into
pretty much everything. His favorite
line is “hey mom, watch this!” I saw an
e-card the other day that said that phrase is to a child what “hold my beer” is
to an adult. It holds pretty accurate in
the case of Bradon.
He has officially been talking for 1 year 1 month. It is hard to think about, this time last year
he had only a couple of words to his vocabulary. This year he is going a mile a minute. He is still struggling with a few consonant
sounds – c/ch/t/f/p. However, his speech
therapist along with others say those take time to develop. Considering he has
only been talking a short while, these will hopefully begin to take form over
the next year. If not then we will look
at placing him into speech therapy. He will be 4 in February, and we will know
before school starts what if anything that we need to do.
The cause for his delayed speech was the numerous ear infections. He will have had his ear tubes for 1 year in
December. He has still gotten several
ear infections with the ear tubes, strep, and even a case of croup. The doctor had considered the possibility of
taking his tonsils out, if or when he gets another set of tubes. We meet the ENT in December to do a 1 year
check and also to discuss how we move forward.
None of us want these issues to restrict or relapse his speech any
further.
